The Health Minute – Sleep & immunity

Tilia flowers

All of us know that our health is strongly connected to the quality of our sleep. No matter of the age they have, everyone from 1 month until 101 years old needs enough sleep, in function of their needs. Sleep in closely connected to our immune system so, if we don’t sleep enough, we may certainly have a lower immunity and get sick very easily.

I know a lot of tricks for sleeping well and falling asleep easier that I share with my friends. For example, many plants can help, such as Verbena, Melissa, Tilia, Chamomilla, Mint just to quote the most important. Another element that can help is a daily intake of Mg., the only mineral that brings you calm & happiness.

My advice is that you try and sleep a minimum quantity of hours/night; I would recommend 8 for most of the people and to try and be active for the following 8h after waking up. Physical activity of any kind (even if you work in an office, try to stretch or move for 5min. every hour) helps you to get a bit tired when night comes and, thus, fall easier asleep. Starting from 9pm, stop doing things that distract too much your attention or put your brain to work too much. Stop watching the news, avoid talking to negative people and just focus on yourselves and to giving the body a rest – watch a cooking channel, water your plants, talk to an optimistic person and try to laugh, read something uplifting, if you have children you can do funny things together before their sleep, prepare a nice evening tea, have a massage with your partner, do a short relaxing meditation. These can be more mindful ways to guide you towards a good sleep.

I keep my fingers crossed for you; the healthier we are, the stronger we feel outside and inside and having constantly a good amount of sleep is the right path to staying young & have a long life. Please remember that a good day starts with a good night’s sleep 🙂 !!

The Wednesday thought – Compassion

showing support when our friend has a problem – we can solve it together, no worries 🙂

For this occasion, I have chosen the word COMPASSION. I’ve seen very often children and animals being compassionate to each other and more rarely adults showing compassion. I think this is wrong, as adults should be initiators of such behaviours as it is them who are educating children, not vice-versa. I would be happy to see more compassion among my fellow-adults in all the situations of every day life. Compassion can unite persons of any age, sex or background and can peacefully create more gratitude among people in our society.

In comparison to ignorance or selfishness which are very often seen nowadays, compassion puts people together and creates a peace of mind and such good inner emotions that are bringing about also a lower blood pressure, a more relaxed body & mind and a better immunity. Selfishness creates negative feelings and emotions between people, while compassion hamonises the souls and creates a common feeling of shared support, which is essential especially when someone is suffering.

Just remember that most of the people you run into have more difficult lives than yours, so show them with generosity some COMPASSION if needed, it does not cost a thing. Have a happy & peaceful summer everyone 🙂 !

From Greece again, with peace !

My dear readers, I hope this little post will bring you some freshness, relaxing vibes for your minds, joy, hope and trust in all the good values that inspire us, day by day. I am also attaching a few photos as images can speak for themselves and I hope that, wherever you are, this summer with a nice number otherwise, 2022, can bring you 222 reasons to feel healthy, loved, trustful and joyful, no matter what.

First of all, the choice for an escape to Greece was excellent; the seaside landscape was amazing, the weather was at its best and there were not so many tourists in the seaside resort where I spent my days. Every night I was able to admire fire flies again in the darkness, after many years.

An amazing discovery is linked to the local flora. I have always, wrongly, thought that passiflora grows very far from where I live. Well, it seems that this amazing flower, having a lot of benefits about which I hope to write a future post, grows in Greece, too. It was a magical moment for me, when one evening, while we were walking towards the beach to see again the fire flies, I noticed the passiflora in a green bush near our small village route. I hope you also have such magical discoveries this year!!

I am choosing this other photo on purpose; you all know how the world is now and how it has been in the recent 20, 30 years, although our grandparents went through a world war….mankind has not learnt anything from its history…One of the things I am sure of is that we don’t know at all anything about what and who is behind conflicts and bad news…but we are all suffering because of them, some more, others less. Please read this in any of the languages and, for one second, just close your eyes and imagine a round blue ball smiling and smiling and smiling. Let the blue ball be our Earth and let our positive thoughts help it be healthy, safe, happy and durable… we shall never have another planet to live on.

Time for a little meditation, under the palm trees – happiness is for free, good things take time, live simply so that others can simply live….The breeze, the perfume of the roses, the amazing stones, the ships passing by… and all these things are quite enough to make many of us happy 🙂

As I am mentioning these amazing fire flies, please enjoy this song and focus this summer on all the positive things in your lives:

Of course, photos with the sunset, my favourite time-moment of the day could not miss. This precious sunset was taking place near a beach bay called Lefkimmi. I had the luck to watch the whole sunset with my boys and enjoy the sound of the waves, the amazing smell of the sea, the soft sand I felt with my feet…. and to realise, again, how grateful I am for all these.

Have a wonderful summer everyone & keep yourselves healthy – body and mind 🙂 !!!

World Water Day – 22nd of March

Water – the source of life and even more that that. We could not live without water but do we really appreciate it? Thanks to this day we should really learn to treat water with more respect, appreciation and care. Water is an essential condition for our life and health.

Water is the cradle of life; if there had not been water on Terra, we would not be alive today. Still, the quality of waters all over the world is not what it used to be, especially because of humans’ actions everywhere. We should be more and more numerous to respect water surfaces and keep them clean.

Myself I am a big admirer of seaside places; some people love lakes, other would never get away from the ocean if living there for long…or some love rain – I could agree with all of them. I cannot explain why but water surfaces give me beneficial emotions, energies and I feel so happy whenever I spend time besides any type of water surface. I also love rain, as long as I don’t get completely soaked…In my home town, June is the “‘rain-month” already for many years now; it is raining a lot every June, but later in the year, thanks to that, I find the best fruits and vegetables in the fresh markets all over the country.

You all know much more about water, be it through your work or private lives; this day is meant to remind us all of the value of water and make us cherish all the water zones we have – on the continents or outside them.

The Buddhist Masaru Emoto has said: “Water has the magical capacities to give birth to all things and to keep information“. This thought is something wise we should meditate about, especially that our bodies contain, as you all know, lots of water. Drinking enough water also adds up a lot to our general physical and emotional health.

Enough talking – now, dear readers, go and drink a glass of mineral water, look at the drops of dew on the grass, check the clouds, wash your hands with warm water, listen to a waterfall or whatever puts you in a magical contact with…. Water. May you be blessed with healthy “waters” to drink and to admire!

The health minute – forever Magnesium !

This time I am sharing another tip with you related to our general health; it is quite common, but maybe some don’t know it yet. It is a mineral and very useful anti-stress trick and it is called Magnesium. You can take it either as a supplement or water effervescent mineral or directly from food (these are the most useful but it is still contained in others) which is actually the best way to absorb it:

  • green-leaf vegetables
  • nuts and seeds
  • pumpkin
  • fatty fish (mackerel, salmon, tuna, etc.)
  • soya beans
  • avocado
  • brown rice
  • banana
  • dark chocolate (minimum 50% of cocoa)
  • dairy products with low-fat
  • dry fruits
  • aromatic herbs
  • green onion
  • tofu cheese

I think it is well-known that this mineral is essential for the good functioning of the body at many levels (heart, nervous system, muscles, etc.) so become his friend and take it daily, if possible, from food and drinks (any mineral water or special types like those who have a higher content in Mg.). I think that you could create such a good plan for you that covers your needs, without waiting for when you feel dizzy or stressed to run to the health shop. More than that, anytime you feel that something is not well with you, either physically or emotionally, take my honest advice and do not wait as it could get worse! Small health problems get easily solved with a minimum of resources and this is the best way to deal with your health and longevity hope.

Stay healthy in peace and joy! Best wishes to all 🙂

The Health Minute – Ginger Minutul de Sanatate – Ghimbirul

Hello again, dear readers! As we are in full winter, I’m coming back with some more ideas for you that could be useful during this delicate period. Today I wish to talk about GINGER.

This is an Asian remedy, that can be used in many healthy meals and drinks. I have to admit that I love Ginger tea, pure or in combination with other plants, flowers or dry fruits. This is also an amazing ‘tool’ for all of us during the cold season or even stressful periods of our lives. Ginger is recommended for usage in many health-related situations:

– it enforces general immunity and energy level – it cures stomach aches – it can fight cancer – it prevents diabetes – it has antibacterial effect – it is a natural antibiotic – it helps cure arthritis – it diminishes body pain – it protects the liver – it gives the body many antioxidants

Besides these therapeutical benefits, Ginger can also be very useful in tea, lemonades, meals, salads, desserts, marmalades. I think you should give it a chance and include it in your diet this January 2022, as an easy resolution. Good luck and stay healthy!

The health minute – Minutul de sanatate

I know you will laugh but it is fine; I also did not know all these interesting details about the common…..carrot. The truth is that it contains plenty of good things for our health – not only the well-known vitamin A. Listen here my friends: it contains also vitamin C and many antioxidants, fibers and also B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9 (folate- good also for pregnant ladies and small children), vitamin E, vitamin K, Ca, Fe, Mg, K, Mn, Zn and some natural water. It helps the immunity, the heart, the blood circulation, it stimulates the metabolism, decreases the cholesterol and fights against several types of cancer. Plus, it boosts our optimism on rainy days with its amazing and cheerful colour. Have I convinced you? One simple carrot, of course cutivated healthily, is a health-bomb. If you want to enjoy your life (for sure you must have many reasons to live long and to live happily) put the carrots on your list; I use them in juices, salads, cooked meals or just simply washed as a snack at the beach (ooo, who will have the best suntan? 🙂 Stay healthy and crunch carrots !

Stiu ca veti rade insa nu e problema; nu stiam nici eu de toate beneficiile morcovilor. Insa adevarul este ca banalul morcov este un miracol pentru sanatatea noastra si nu doar datorita beta-carotenului (vit. A). E, K, Ca, Mg, K, Mn, Zn si ceva apa naturala.

The Wednesday thought

Hello again everyone! I hope this new post finds all of you in perfect shape.

This time I wish to propose another word, as important as the previous ones. This one is ”safety” and you should keep in mind that, in today’s world, you should all stay safe no matter what. Life is beautiful and we must enjoy it, remember of course the famous ”Carpe diem”. In general myself I have had the luck to live amazing experiences and many happy and fun moments but I’ve never put my life in danger for anything; this is my own creed but I think it can be useful also for you. Enjoying life with wisdom is a good target to follow, if you also want to reach a golden age. What else can I add? Avoid any dangers, cultivate your health, stay young (body and spirit), travel safely and stay away from strange people. Unfortunately human race is worse than animals (sorry but this is the pure truth) – humans, despite animals, kill for no reason..and I think you don’t need any examples for that. This is horrible.

Now, back to optimism – take care of yourselves, stay safe, plan long-term ahead, keep your confidence in your destiny and your angels will guide you always on the best, safe, right path. You can drink one, two glasses of wine but if you drink the whole bottle..you cannot be safe anymore. I hope you’ll keep something in mind from this advice and I hope to see you again …when you’re reaching 100 years old with a big cake in front of you 🙂 ! Keep in touch xxxx

Enjoying journal books Idei pentru cartile-jurnal

I hope you’re all in good health! I wish to share with you a little trick that can help you enjoy more every month of the year no matter what is your situation. There are many books written in the form of a journal, many of them worth reading. More than that, I have tried to re-read one that I like a lot parallelly – a chapter corresponding to the month in which I am in real life. For example, now I’m rereading Peter’s Mayle, ”A year in Provence” and I’m now at the chapter ”August” as we are in August and they are preparing to attend a goat race 🙂 . It is a good way to enjoy all the 12 months and to find beautiful things in each month of the year.

I would wish to give you two ideas – one is the book I mentioned above, by Peter Mayle, written as a sort of journal of his first year spent in Provence, France with his wife. Try to read it in a year’s time, month by month and see if you like this small experiment. Another option is a book written originally in French (for sure you may find it in English, too) by Veronique de Bure – ” Un clafoutis aux tomates cerises” ; this one is a journal written even by days, those chosen by the author to be more interesting in one year. Both books are amazing and are written with humour and positive vibes. They’ll surely bring you good vibes and even funny ideas to do along a year’s time.

I have not given the link to make you buy these, but just to identify the books. You can try to borrow them at the library, this is what I did. I hope some of you can try this trick with the journal-real life parallel; even if not, read these little masterpieces when you have some spare time, they’ll refresh your spirit and make you have more and more energy to enjoy and appreciate your beautiful life. Stay safe and loved! **** hugs

Hello again! I come back with another interesting tip for your health. You know for sure that Echinacea (plant: Echinacea purpurea) is a famous plant original from North America, really useful for our immunity. You can find this plant prepared in different forms (tea, supplement, throat candies, creams, etc.) and you can adapt its usage to your own body.

Echinacea supports the general health in several ways:

– it fights against any type of cold/flu and prevents problems of the respiratory system

– it treats and prevents liver diseases

– it fights asthma

– it fights against urinary infections

– it diminishes oral problems

– it is efficient against the Herpex simplex virus, eczema, psoriazis, candida infection, etc. (it supports also the body against the Covid infection)

– it supports digestion.

You don’t need to wait to have such problems; for example, you can make a habit of drinking every week some echnacea tea, as a prevention and reinforcement of your general health. In the cold season Echinacea is excellent in combination with vitamin C or Zinc. Keep it in your diet and live long everyone!
